Records indicate that Ting maintained a relationship with Epstein from 2010 to 2018. Throughout this period, he provided medical services to Epstein’s associates, referred to in emails as “girls,” “friends,” and “assistants.” Emails suggest Epstein also financially supported Ting, including a $50,000 contribution aimed at helping a young woman, Emily Harris, in medical school.
Much of their communication predates Ting’s full commitment to transgender surgery, but in a 2018 email, he mentioned his shift to focus on “gender-affirming” surgery, indicating that Epstein might have had an interest in this area. “I wanted to share some changes in my career that you might be interested in,” he wrote to Epstein, promoting the new center he was developing at Mount Sinai.
In March 2013, Ting reportedly visited Epstein’s island with a female friend and her young children, and emails indicated Epstein suggested that Ting “play with his ‘toys.'” Ting also allegedly brought the children to Epstein’s New York City residence. While there are no explicit suggestions of wrongdoing in these communications, they do show a close relationship between Ting and Epstein, with the former acting as the latter’s personal doctor.
As Ting was moving into transgender surgery, Epstein began communicating with Robert Trivers, an evolutionary biologist who also lacks a medical degree. Trivers discussed hormonal issues tied to gender reassignment, delving into how hormone replacement therapy affects young males and their physical attributes.
Trivers articulated that hormone manipulation could create a more feminine appearance in men, noting how these treatments impact both men and women. He shared his complex views on transgender transitions, suggesting a blend of physical traits could create sexual appeal regardless of the individual’s original gender.
Concerns about early intervention in transgender cases surfaced as well; Trivers mentioned hesitance regarding administering hormone treatments to young children—a contradiction that raises questions about motivations in the broader context of transgender medicine.
Notably, Epstein’s communications featured language associated with child sex traffickers, echoing terminology frequently discussed within conspiracy theories online. The association with phrases linked to child trafficking was particularly striking, indicating the disturbing nature of Epstein’s activities.
Some conspiracy theorists speculated that code words like “pizza” and “hot dogs” represented children, suggesting a chilling undercurrent to Epstein’s interactions. Throughout the released documents, there were numerous references to “pizza,” a term that sparked scrutiny given Epstein’s connections.
