Eric Adams slams latecomer mayoral rivals Andrew Cuomo, Adrienne Adams — while insisting he’s ‘not a quitter’

Mayor Eric Adams denounced his rivals Adrienne Adams and Andrew Cuomo for using his anguish to carry out a “shadow campaign” in the Democrat Election of Latte Secomer.

Hizzoner defended the apparently nonexistent campaign at an unrelated press conference near Washington Square Park, claiming that his rock bottom vote count and the confusion of the ongoing corruption case would not spell reelection.

“I'm not a kitter, I'm a New Yorker,” he said. “We will never surrender, we will never give up. This game is not over.”

The rebellious message came just after Cuomo, former governor and city council president, Adrian Adams, who took part in the already crowded primary Democratic race last week.

The mayor, unrelated to Adrian Adams, accused the council chair and Cuomo of hiding safely in the shadows when it hit the front line.

“They were running a shadow campaign,” he said. “They were not scrutinized and not questioned. You didn't know what their position was.”

Adams claimed that a recent poll saw a job approval rating of 20% for New York City mayor, but that Cuomo, speakers and other candidates are running on his agenda.

“Now everyone is shifting and working together cities to know the solution to my victory over crime, employment, and the economy. Everyone sounds like Eric Adams,” he said.

Cuomo announced his long-lost candidacy on Saturday, casting himself as New York City's savior.

He raced as an instant front runner. This is an astonishing property reversal since 2021, when he disgracedly resigned as governor amid a vortex of sexual harassment accusations. He consistently denied the charges.

Adrienne Adams officially entered the race on Wednesday. She will hold a kickoff rally on Saturday.

On his side, the mayor has escaped the campaign as his criminal case is dragged near the June primary.

People close to Adams wanted a quick resolution with the new Trump administration, but the judge even considered throwing the case until mid-March due to backlash against how Justice Department officials handled the fire, particularly how they allowed it to be taken home at any time.

Adams defends his absence from the campaign trail, claiming that he is currently in office and does not need to raise his profile.

“I know how to overcome the hurdles, I know it very well,” he said. “The worst thing I can do is succumb to a lie. And I will never do it.”

Cuomo spokesman Rich Azzopaldi said:

The speaker's campaign did not respond to requests for comment.
