Eric Bischoff Reflects on Hulk Hogan’s Condition Before His Passing

Eric Bischoff, the former head of WCW, shared insights about his conversation with Hulk Hogan, who seemed “weak” and “tired” during their talk on July 24. This discussion took place just weeks before the shocking news of Hogan’s passing at 71.

In a recent episode of the “83 Weeks” podcast, Bischoff recalled that Hogan’s voice carried a certain fatigue. Despite this, Hogan asked, “Where are we going on?” suggesting he was still engaged, albeit not at his best.

Bischoff, now 70, has a long history with Hogan, particularly during the time when Hogan was a key figure in the NWO faction that changed the face of wrestling. He had reached out to Hogan after Hogan’s son, Nick, was discharged from the hospital.

During their conversation, Bischoff offered to visit Hogan in Florida, but Hogan expressed some hesitation. According to Bischoff, Hogan said, “I really want to see you, but I was pretty sick, so I’m embarrassed about how I look.” Bischoff reassured him, stating, “Hulk, when I look at you, I don’t see what you see in the mirror.”

Ultimately, Bischoff visited Hogan for about an hour. The discussion focused on business matters, revealing Hogan’s enduring passion and drive, even in the face of his health struggles.

Interestingly, a nurse accompanied Hogan during the visit, concerned with ensuring he followed certain protocols, like elevating his feet and administering oxygen. Bischoff noted this added a layer of worry to the visit.

Bischoff acknowledged that he was aware of Hogan’s limitations but aimed to provide him with a sense of purpose and enjoyment for the future.

Hogan expressed eagerness to return to the mic, sharing, “Brother, I can’t wait. I might not be able to do anything on camera for a few weeks, but over the phone, that would be fine.” His enthusiasm for getting back to work was evident.

Following their conversation, Bischoff texted Hogan’s wife, Sky Daily, emphasizing that his main concern was Hogan’s health but also wanting to instill some hope. “He always loves hunting,” Bischoff added, suggesting he wanted Hogan to have something positive to look forward to.
