Eric Trump’s New Perspective on Mark Zuckerberg
In a recent appearance on “Pod Force One,” Eric Trump shared his surprisingly positive encounter with Mark Zuckerberg during the presidential inauguration. He noted that Zuckerberg feels like a “different person” compared to how he was in 2020.
Reflecting on their relationship, Eric admitted, “I actually started liking him.” There was a period when he harbored strong negative feelings towards Zuckerberg.
The comments come shortly after Eric released his memoir, “Under Siege,” which delves into the challenges faced by his family, especially regarding how major tech platforms like Twitter and Facebook managed the online presence of past and future presidents.
Eric recounted a moment from inauguration day, January 20, 2025, when he met Zuckerberg, who was seated directly behind him. “I didn’t initially notice him, but when I turned around, I shook his hand,” he recalled. Their interaction felt notably warm, especially during a lunch in Statuary Hall shortly after the swearing-in ceremony. “He approached me in a very friendly manner. I genuinely believe he meant it,” Eric shared, describing how Zuckerberg greeted him with a handshake and a casual hug.
When discussing Zuckerberg’s actions to suppress conservative voices, including the Trump family, Eric suggested that Zuckerberg seems to be recognizing past mistakes. “I think he’s come to realize how wrong he was,” Eric speculated, even jokingly mentioning Zuckerberg’s new interest in jiu-jitsu as a potential factor in his attitude shift. “Maybe it’s a rise in testosterone or something—who knows?”
Eric concluded by expressing how his feelings have evolved: from “legitimately hating him” for actions taken on his platform back in 2020, to feeling a sense of unexpected goodwill in 2024.
