Erica Kirk Addresses Celebration of Her Husband’s Death
During a City Hall conversation on Wednesday, Erica Kirk expressed her outrage towards those celebrating her husband Charlie Kirk’s assassination. “You’re sick. He’s a human being. Do you think he deserved to be treated like that? Tell that to my 3-year-old daughter,” she remarked in response to a query from CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss regarding justifications for his killing.
Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was shot during a campus event in Utah in September. “You want to watch the video of my husband being murdered in high definition and laugh and say it’s self-inflicted? There’s something very sick in your soul, and I pray that God saves you,” she added, emphasizing the moral wrongness of such attitudes.
In her discussion with Weiss, Kirk pointed out that the internet has “dehumanized” people. The full town hall will air on Saturday. Throughout the country, there have been multiple incidents where individuals have publicly mocked or celebrated Kirk’s assassination.
Just days after his death on September 10, videos surfaced showing a student on Clemson University’s campus mocking the situation. Additionally, an 18-year-old Texas Tech University student was arrested and expelled for making disturbing comments at a wake related to the incident.
In a separate interview on “Outnumbered,” Kirk responded to conspiracy theories surrounding her husband’s assassination, asserting that she’s been unaffected by their baseless claims. “My silence doesn’t mean I’m complacent,” she explained. “We’re busy building.”
As for her children, she expressed a deep desire for a peaceful resting place for her husband. “Will you give my babies a place where our graves are sacred, a place where my husband can rest, and where I don’t have to worry that some secular revolutionary will come and destroy my husband’s grave while my daughter sits there praying?” she asked earnestly.
