NFL Star Shares Faith in Viral Video
A video featuring NFL linebacker Ernest Jones passionately expressing his faith in Christ during a locker room speech has recently gained significant attention, proving that faith still plays a role in sports today.
Jones, who plays for the Seattle Seahawks, shared his emotional message on the team’s official social media after an impressive game where he recorded a team-high 12 tackles, two interceptions, and scored a touchdown against Minnesota.
In the video, he shared, “I’ve been through a lot this year, and earlier this week, I talked to some of my teammates and realized I felt stuck—like something was missing. And it turned out what I was missing was God.” His heartfelt words were met with applause and cheers from his teammates.
“I got down on my knees and started praying. And look what we got. It’s bigger than this interception. It’s bigger than that. I have my Lord and Savior,” he continued, expressing hope for the future. “Jesus Christ will come back, and I will be with my sons.”
The emotional speech has been viewed more than 200,000 times across various platforms, resonating with many. Some viewers commented positively, with one saying, “Love watching him testify,” while another mentioned, “Sounds like a guy with his head on straight.”
In the second quarter of the game, Jones returned an 85-yard interception for a touchdown, which halted Minnesota’s only significant attack and gave Seattle a 10-0 lead.
Originally chosen in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Jones quickly established himself as a sharp linebacker, even aiding the Los Angeles Rams in their Super Bowl victory. After a brief period with the Titans, he was traded to the Seahawks in October 2024 and has since become vital to their defense.
During a postgame press conference, Jones emphasized that he aims to embody his beliefs beyond just football. “When football is over, not many will remember the player,” he said. “I want everyone to remember the person.” He mentioned wanting to honor God through his character, raising reflective questions: “What kind of person were you? Can people trust you?”
