Matt Miller, an ESPN NFL Draft analyst, faces misdemeanor charges linked to a severe car accident that resulted in the amputation of his arm.
On Tuesday, court records revealed that Miller was charged with one count of causing an accident due to failing to stay on the correct side of the road when it was wide enough.
Miller, who is 43 years old, must appear in a Missouri court on September 21. If he doesn’t, there’s a chance his driver’s license could be suspended, and a warrant for his arrest might be issued.
The accident took place on June 17 around 3:50 PM in Jasper County.
Dashcam footage acquired by a local newspaper shows Miller driving his 2023 Ford Bronco, where he swerved into oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle. The impact was forceful enough to hurl him from his seat, leading to a fractured femur, patella, ribs, and ultimately, the loss of his left arm.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicated that improper lane use was likely a contributing factor in the crash. They also noted that it remains unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved.
In the aftermath, several users on X accused Miller of not paying prize money or charity contributions, prompting the Missouri Attorney General’s Office to start an investigation into these allegations.
Following the accident, Miller has made multiple statements. Most recently, on July 10, he announced his decision to “indefinitely step away” from ESPN to focus on his healing and recovery.
