Controversial House Judiciary Hearing on Abortion Procedures

On April 28, a House Judiciary subcommittee hearing focused on the Biden administration’s application of the 1994 Freedom of Clinics Act—designed to safeguard access to abortion clinics—took center stage when Rep. Brandon Gill (R-Texas) confronted abortion advocate Jessica Waters about what “reproductive health care” truly entails.

A clip of their exchange quickly gained traction online, serving as a stark reveal of abortion’s real-life implications.

During a recent episode of “Pat Gray Unleashed,” host Pat and the panel discussed this gripping moment, praising Gill’s strategic questioning.

Gill directly asked Waters, “You are an advocate for abortion and abortion policy. What is your favorite type of abortion?”

Waters chose a euphemistic route, stating, “I am an advocate for patient access to the full spectrum of reproductive health care.”

But Gill pressed on, rephrasing his question. When Waters claimed no specific method was preferable, Gill began outlining various abortion procedures, complete with diagrams.

“The first type is suction abortion, where the cervix is dilated, and the fetus is fragmented by suction that’s 29 times stronger than a household vacuum,” he explained, calling it “horrifying.” He quickly followed up with another method.

“This method is called dilation and curettage. Once the cervix is dilated, a sharp instrument is inserted into the uterus, resulting in the fetus being cut into small pieces. Do you prefer that method?”

Waters, maintaining her stance, reiterated her title as a “reproductive health care advocate.”

Gill stated, “You don’t want to talk about abortion itself. Is it because it feels uncomfortable? It should feel uncomfortable,” before describing a third, particularly brutal method.

“This is dilation and evacuation, which involves inserting forceps to rip apart the fetus. If the head is too large, it must be crushed to facilitate removal. Do you prefer this method?” he continued.

Labeling abortion as “barbaric and evil,” Gill detailed yet another method: the saline injection. Here, a saline solution is injected into the amniotic fluid, which can ultimately lead to the fetus suffering severe harm. “Do you prefer this method?” he pressed on.

Waters tried to steer the conversation back to the hearing’s topic, but Gill countered, “This is the subject of the hearing. I’m asking about abortion. I wouldn’t want to delve into this either—it’s both barbaric and evil.”

Although Pat and his co-hosts admitted they found the graphic descriptions difficult to hear, they recognized the effectiveness of Gill’s questioning style. “It’s incredibly hard to talk about, but it’s powerful,” Pat noted.

Gill’s grilling not only forced Waters to confront a harsh reality, but also sparked a crucial dialogue. “This will be part of the Congressional record forever,” remarked Keith Marinak. “People need to know what really happens during these procedures,” Pat underscored.
