EUR/JPY Analysis 28/07: Euro Pauses at 186.50

Euro/Yen

The euro gained against the Japanese yen on Monday, showing some initial strength, but the upward trend wavered later as concerns grew about risk appetite during US trading hours. Even with this slight dip, holding the euro here could yield a positive swap.

Notably, the 186.50 yen level is acting as a crucial barrier within the current consolidation range. If the euro manages to push past that point, it could target the 187.50 yen mark, which has faced significant declines since late April. Below that, the 50-day EMA offers support just above the 185 yen level.

Pullbacks Present Buying Opportunities

With interest rate differentials leaning in favor of the euro, there’s a sense that short-term pullbacks offer buying chances. The candlestick patterns suggest a slightly bearish outlook, which may indicate an opportunity to capture some value in the market. It’s a tricky environment; things seem to remain somewhat unchanged for now.

I’m not inclined to short this market. Rather, I prefer to hold onto my euro positions against the yen to benefit from end-of-session rewards. I believe the euro will eventually rise, but it may take some time to see that given the current global concerns about risk appetite and market stability. These currency pairs tend to fluctuate with overall risk sentiments.
