Euro 2024 picks, best bets

Saturday’s match will pit a strong German team, the favourites to win the tournament, against a tough Denmark side.

At stake is a place in the quarterfinals and a match against the winner of Sunday’s match between Spain and Georgia.

Spain will probably overpower Georgia to reach the quarterfinals, then have a big advantage against Denmark and a slight advantage against Germany.

Germany are currently tied with France as the third-best odds to win Euro 2024 at +550 on FanDuel, behind Spain (+440) and England (+320).

Germany’s optimistic outlook has been fuelled by their attack, which has scored multiple goals in five of their last seven games, including a 2-0 win over France in March.

But we’ve seen Denmark’s defense stifle opponents recently, especially as a potent English attack struggled to put the ball in the net and nearly lost a 1-1 draw.

But something will have to happen in the last 16.

Germany vs Denmark predictions

(3 p.m. ET, FOX)

Both teams have suspended players in their starting line-ups, with Germany missing stalwart defender Jonathan Tah and Denmark without defensive midfielder Morten Hjulmand.

Who replaces these contributors will eventually become clear, but neither suspension is likely to have a major impact on the outcome of this game.

Germany will likely continue to employ a high-pressure attacking style with an emphasis on ball control, while Denmark, while strong defensively, have not performed well enough on offense to inspire great confidence that they can turn things around.

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is legendary at this point and remains one of the best goalkeepers in the tournament, while Denmark struggled as favourites in their last match against Serbia.

Denmark will try but they’re not a good opponent so Germany should win.
