A-B-C Desperate Housewives Alumna Eva Longoria argued that Hollywood is not liberal or progressive, adding that she believes there needs to be “gender equality” at all levels in the entertainment industry.
Eva Longoria said in a recent interview Grazia.
“Hollywood is supposed to be a liberal, progressive industry, but it’s not,” she told the magazine. “It would be great if we could have gender equality in all positions, but that’s not the case. There are fewer female directors and fewer Latinas in front of the camera than there were a few years ago. So, despite the perception that we’re doing really well, we’re actually moving in the wrong direction.”
Longoria did not define what she meant by “gender equality,” but it presumably includes Hollywood’s attempt to socially manipulate the gender makeup of every film and TV show.
“Women still don’t have the same opportunities as men,” Longoria told Grazia magazine. “What we can do is [in the industry] The point is, you can change the culture. And when the culture changes, the policies change, the perceptions change. You can change a lot with storytelling.”
This isn’t the first time Eva Longoria has criticized Hollywood for not meeting her standards.
As Breitbart News reported last year, she complained that white men can direct one flop blockbuster and still make another, but women like her can’t (a claim she was empirically wrong).
That same year, she blasted mainstream media and Hollywood for continuing to demonize minorities, particularly Latinos, saying dark-skinned people are often portrayed as murderers and rapists.
Eva Longoria co-hosted the 2020 Democratic National Convention and is remembered for her scathing criticism of then-President Donald Trump.
