Actress Eva Longoria said President-elect Trump's victory did not influence her decision to move herself and her family overseas.
“Can you please tell them I didn't leave the United States because of Trump?” she told ABC's “The View” host Ana Navarro. Recording the program Podcast “Behind the Table”. Navarro later revealed that Longoria moved out of the United States before Trump's victory.
“I've been living in Europe for almost three years,” said Longoria, who lives in Spain. “By the way, the article says, “It’s so sad that people just got clickbait stuff to polarize their opinions. It's all just meant to provoke disagreement.”
The actor spoke about his move in an interview for a Marie Claire cover story published shortly after the election.
During his conversation with Navarro, Longoria added, “I didn't quit because of the political situation. I quit because the job took me there.”
Mr. Longoria was a vocal supporter of Vice President Harris during the campaign, campaigning with Democratic candidates and speaking at the Democratic National Convention.
She said in an interview with Marie Claire that the country would be a “horrible place” if Trump won, and said she was lucky to have “escaped” from the “dystopian” United States.
“The shocking thing is not that he won,” she told the media about the election results. “It means that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could be in the highest office.”
