Voight Critiques Newsom’s Handling of Trump and California Riots
John Voight, the iconic actor, took aim at California Governor Gavin Newsom, calling him foolish for blaming President Donald Trump for the chaos affecting the state. This criticism came after Newsom labeled Trump a “failed dictator” while responding to Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops to deal with violent protests in Los Angeles.
Newsom expressed concern over Trump’s decision, stating that the president sent the troops without prior consultations with local law enforcement. In a statement, he highlighted the chaos unfolding due to the riots, suggesting that Trump’s actions only escalated tensions.
Voight, known for his support of Trump, didn’t hold back in a video posted on social media. He criticized Newsom’s response to the riots, saying, “What are they doing to this destruction?” He urged the governor to engage more thoughtfully with the situation and criticized what he viewed as ineffective leadership.
The actor also accused Newsom of causing confusion with his comments, asserting that the governor was dishonoring the people of California. In a separate incident, the Governor’s Press Office retweeted Voight’s video with a reference to a classic meme, implying a dismissive attitude toward the actor’s viewpoint.
Voight, labeled by Trump as Hollywood’s special ambassador, has consistently backed the president’s initiatives, advocating for a revival of the entertainment industry. He has previously collaborated with others in Hollywood to push for federal tax incentives to support film and television production in the U.S.
Through his remarks, Voight emphasized a desire for a thriving Hollywood under Trump’s leadership, arguing that such a shift could lead to significant opportunities in the industry.
