Caleb Flynn Found Guilty of Murdering Wife

Caleb Flynn, a former contestant on “American Idol” and a worship leader, has been convicted of the murder of his wife, Ashley Flynn.

After nearly two and a half hours of deliberations, the jury found him guilty on all nine charges, which included aggravated murder, murder, two counts of felony murder, two counts of felonious assault, and three counts of tampering with evidence.

Prosecutors contended that Flynn shot his wife on February 16 and then attempted to stage the scene to suggest an intruder was responsible. He reportedly called 911 to claim that an intruder had entered their home and shot Ashley.

Matthew Joseph, an assistant prosecutor in Miami County, referenced evidence from the crime scene, highlighting a garage door that had been altered to simulate damage as if caused by an intruder.

The prosecution asserted that Flynn shot Ashley twice in the back of the head while she was in bed, suggesting that his motive stemmed from an ongoing affair with his former mistress, Alleigha Botner.

Botner played a significant role as a witness in the trial, where she stated, “I believe that he murdered his wife.”

Text messages exchanged between Flynn and Botner were evidence in the courtroom, including a message from Flynn in 2025 expressing a desire for Ashley to be “dead and gone.”

Upon hearing the verdict, Flynn reportedly bowed his head and wept. The judge has since revoked his bond and scheduled a sentencing date for October 5, where he could face life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

Flynn’s defense attorneys have stated they plan to file a notice of appeal.
