A retired teacher who worked for the school for more than 40 years has been accused of having sexual contact with a young boy, and investigators believe more victims may come forward.
Keith Steininger, 68, who taught for 41 years at Girard College, a boarding school in Pennsylvania, and served as a Boy Scout leader, sexually assaulted students between 2018 and 2020, when the children were between 11 and 13 years old. It is said that The county district attorney’s office announced Tuesday.
“Sexual contact with children is always wrong,” District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said in a statement. “When an adult entrusted with a child’s care and well-being makes such contact, it is an even greater insult to society. It is heartbreaking that such a person would take advantage of a vulnerable child. That’s very worrying.”
Upland Borough Police were first made aware of the charges on January 25, 2020, when a foster parent told her that her foster child had been the victim of sexual assault over a two-year period and that Steininger was at her home. She said she claimed that he touched her private parts during the sexual assault. He was a student at Girard University and was staying at his home.
