Ex-Child Actor Killed by Tiger in English Zoo Was Taking "Strong" Medication for Mental Health Issues

Tragic Death of Former Child Actor in Zoo Incident

A former child actor, 23-year-old William Chapman, who entered an enclosure at a British zoo, was killed by a Siberian tiger. His family revealed that he had battled significant mental illness for many years and was on “strong” medication.

In a statement released three days after the incident at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Chapman’s family expressed their devastation and struggle to cope with his loss. They conveyed their hope that authorities would investigate the circumstances surrounding his actions.

While they didn’t disclose specific details about Chapman’s mental health struggles, they painted a picture of him as a beloved young man who was full of life and warmth.

On the day of the tragedy, just before climbing into the tiger’s enclosure, Chapman shared a video on social media. Witnesses described him as being in a seemingly happy mood, dancing with headphones in and asking others to take photos alongside the big cat.

Reports indicated that, during the initial confrontation, Chapman attempted to assert control by instructing the tiger to “stop being naughty.” Unfortunately, this did not prevent the tiger from overpowering him and dragging him into a more secluded area, where he ultimately lost his life.

Emergency responders discovered his body shortly thereafter.

Chapman’s family expressed distress over the circulation of footage from the encounter, which they found deeply upsetting during such a vulnerable time. They urged people to refrain from sharing it further.

The reporting around the incident noted a connection to former President Donald Trump, who had shared the video on social media, commenting on the encounter. However, it wasn’t clear if the family’s reactions were linked to Trump’s posts or just the general dissemination of the footage.

The tragic video has since gained traction online and been broadcasted by multiple news outlets.

Chapman’s background as a child actor included appearances alongside well-known figures, such as Shirley Henderson from the Harry Potter series, according to reports.

The zoo has stated it is cooperating with investigations to determine the sequence of events leading to the incident, emphasizing the safety of visitors and animals as a top priority. It was noted that the tiger involved would not be euthanized, which is a typical response in cases of attacks by wild predators.

Carole Baskin, a prominent figure associated with tigers, commented that the animal had done nothing wrong and appeared relieved that the tiger had not been harmed as a result of the incident.
