Ex-Dem Sen. Tester backs Newsom on opposing trans athletes in women’s sports

After losing her re-election in 2024, former Montana Senator John Tester spoke to women's sports trans athletes.

In a real-time HBO interview with Bill Maher on Friday, the tester said he agreed to California Gov. Gavin Newsom's recent comments.

“In that statement, Gavin Newsom is 100% correct,” the tester said. “By the way, men are talking about very, very, very, very little people that women should not play sports. That's just a lot of crap.”

But the testers, like many other Democrats, argued that it was an exaggerated issue.

“The truth is that it was blown away disproportionately,” Tester said. “We're talking about that and Congress is acting on issues that affect Americans, not on issues that affect Americans.”

recently New York Times/Ipsos Survey It turns out that the majority of Americans, including the majority of Democrats, do not believe that trans athletes should not be allowed to compete in women's sports. Of the 2,128 participants, 79% said that biological men identified as women should not be allowed to participate in female sports.

Of the 1,025 identified as Democrats or Democrats they rely on, 67% said trans athletes should not be allowed to compete with women.

Meanwhile, a National exit survey What the US Legislative Action Committee undertakes for the women involved found that 70% of moderate voters “donald Trump considers transgender boys and men playing girls and women's sports and transgender boys and men using girls and women's bathrooms important to them.

Additionally, 6% said it was the most important question of all, and 44% said it was “very important.”

Tester lost his seat to former Navy Azarathitum Sheehee in November after serving three terms in Montana.

Despite the fact that many Democrats and the majority of voters have expressed their opposition to women's sports transathletes over the past few months, numbers like Testers and Newsom still come up with other reasons not to support GOP-led laws to address the issue.

Testers suggested that the issue “does not affect Americans,” but Newsom argued that the laws to address the issue did not explain the fact that the transgender population is “vulnerable.”

Gavin Newsom Wildfires

Social media users have reported on Gavin Newsom, D-Calif, about his new podcast announcement. I laughed.

“So it's easy to call that inequality,” Newsmu said on his podcast this week after claiming that trans-inclusion was unfair. “There's humility and grace too. These poor people are likely to commit suicide, anxiety and depression, and the way people talk to vulnerable communities is a problem I struggle with too.”

“So, both things I can hold in my hand,” the governor continued. “How can you address this issue with such a decency that you think is unique to?

President Donald Trump signed an executive order in February to ban trans-athletes in women and girls' sports, but many states, including California, refused to comply.

On Monday, Senate Democrats voted almost unanimously to block the protection of women and girls in sports law.

The law would have helped set a tougher precedent to keep trans athletes out of women and girls' sports across the country, as many states have refused to follow Trump's executive orders to address the issue so far. But a single Democrat senator did not vote to help pass the bill, filib-tars it from reaching Trump's desk.
