The drug dealer convicted and released by President Trump was returned to prison on Friday after being accused of harming a 3-year-old child and assaulting his live-in nanny, among other violent incidents.
Jonathan Brown, 41, has squandered his opportunity for freedom by breaching release conditions, resulting in recent arrests in Nassau County, according to federal prosecutors in Brooklyn.
Trump had commuted Brown’s 10-year sentence for his role in a marijuana distribution operation on the last day of his first term in 2021.
However, Brown, who was photographed with Trump on one of Florida’s golf courses in 2022, has been involved in multiple incidents, including allegedly assaulting a man during a Sabbath dinner at his residence in Nassau County last Saturday night.
He reportedly shoved the man, a 3-year-old child, to the ground, “leaving a red mark on his back, causing significant discomfort,” as stated in the criminal allegations.
The convicted marijuana trafficker, whose family is connected to Trump ally Charles Kushner, has made threats against a man praying in a synagogue, groped his nanny, and assaulted a nurse in various incidents recently.
“Do you recognize me or do you know what I am capable of?” he reportedly yelled at the congregation requesting him to be quiet in the January incident, as per court filings.
Judge Kiyo A. Matsumoto ordered him detained without bail on Friday for not adhering to the conditions of his supervised release, referencing Brown’s purportedly “unstable” violent behavior.
“I am concerned about the seriousness of the offenses. People have been harmed,” Matsumoto remarked during a Brooklyn federal court hearing. She indicated she had seen images of the injuries from at least one incident.
“I am troubled by the recurring instances of violence, reflecting a lack of stability,” the judge continued.
Brown previously posted bail in the Nassau County state case. Nevertheless, he was arrested again Friday morning by a former U.S. Marshal at a hotel on Long Island.
Wearing a beige hooded sweatshirt and unrestrained, Brown addressed the court-appointed lawyer on Friday and confronted a reporter who was watching, asserting he wanted to represent himself.
“I could have attended law school, but I chose a different path,” he exclaimed, “I’m quite intelligent.”
Brown was apprehended in 2010 for managing a vast marijuana distribution network that smuggled millions of dollars worth of cannabis from Canada into New York City.
He later accepted a plea deal, and when Trump commuted his sentence on January 20, 2021, he had served nearly three years out of a 10-year sentence.
This violent individual also manages a dubious financial operation that has charged small businesses exorbitant interest rates on loans given to them, according to state officials.
He continued to benefit financially from his parents until his 40s and was arrested last summer for removing license plates from a white Lamborghini and a black Ferrari to evade a $160 charge at the Ezpass toll booth, prosecutors claim.
“His parents have supported him financially and continue to do so. He has reaped the benefits of this support,” Judge Matsumoto stated on Friday.
Brown now faces significant potential prison time on allegations of violating his release terms and will have a chance for bail reconsideration for these violations during the hearing on April 10.
