Former ESPN anchor Keith Olbermann wrote a critical post about Donald Trump’s former doctor and the assassination attempt at one of Trump’s campaign rallies last week.
Rep. Ronny Jackson, who served as the president’s physician during the Trump administration, said in a statement Saturday that he examined the former president in Bedminster, New Jersey, last week.
Jackson said Trump was shot in the right ear by a high-powered rifle used by the assassin.

“The bullet wound caused a two-centimetre wide wound that reached the cartilage surface of the ear,” the doctor said. “There was significant bleeding initially, followed by significant swelling over the entire upper part of the ear. The swelling has since subsided and the wound has started to granulate and is healing properly.”
“The ear is densely vascularized, so there was intermittent bleeding and it needed to be bandaged. The wound itself was wide and blunt, so no stitches were needed.”

“Simply put, Ronny Jackson is not a doctor. Trump was not hit by a bullet so that’s perfect,” he wrote.
Trump, who wore a bandage over his right ear at the Republican National Convention earlier this week, recalled the injuries he sustained in an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. “I was hit by a bullet,” he said last week.
“If I hadn’t moved my head at the last moment, the assassin’s bullet would have been perfectly on target,” Trump said, “and I wouldn’t be here tonight. We wouldn’t be together.”

Olbermann is the latest to question Trump’s injury, following similar comments from MSNBC host Joy Reid and tennis legend Martina Navratilova, who called Trump’s ear bandage a “PR stunt.”
