Aaron Rodgers may be indecisive about where he will play next, but one former NFL general manager pulled the line out.
In “first take” at ESPN on Friday, former Jets and Dolphin general manager Mike Tannenbaum gave his views on whether the Steelers should go on from their interest in the 2011 Super Bowl champion and four-time MVP.
Tannenbaum filmed Rogers’ co-play at a free agency to signal his indifference. The former NFL executive said he was “finished” for the former Jets quarterback.
“He’s giving us the answers to the test… Do you want your battlefield commander to look at the Pacific Ocean and wander around your battlefield commander, saying, “I don’t know if I want to play or not?” “Tannenbaum said. “coach [Bill] “When players are talking about retirement, they are. And if you want to be a winning frontline quarterback that will withstand the harshness of the 17-game regular season, you want someone in Pittsburgh to know DK Metcalf, George Pickens and Pat Freyermut in the offseason program. I’m all in the draft. I praise them for getting dk metcalf. This is a team competing with the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals. We have to be points scorers.
“Aaron Rodgers is the best ever. Ironically, Mike Tomlin says, “I want volunteers, not hostages,” is over. I’m interested in this being an NFL quarterback.
Appearing on Thursday in Rodgers’ recent “The Pat McAfee Show,” the quarterback dropped off as new coaches Aaron Glenn and Jets left the organization.
He also said he is dealing with challenges in his personal life that put the NFL free agency decision on hold.
