A former University of Kentucky student who was caught on camera assaulting a black student employee while repeatedly yelling the “N-word” was sentenced to one year in prison, followed by protective custody, a judge ruled last week. It was done.
Sophia Rosing pleaded guilty to assault, disorderly conduct and public intoxication and was sentenced to 12 months in prison. ABC36 reported.
Rosing, who is white, went on a drunken assault in a campus dormitory in November 2022, using offensive racial slurs while punching then-19-year-old student employee Kyla Spring, according to authorities and a video of the assault. It is said that he repeatedly insulted her.
Ms Spring previously said she had tried to check on Mr Rosing, who appeared to be drunk, but was instead met with an ugly attack.
“The girl starts saying things like, 'Do my housework,' 'It's not my fault you're black,' 'It's not my fault you're ugly.' At this point she starts singing the N-word. '' Spring recalled.
Rosing, now 23, continued his shocking behavior even after police arrived and arrested him. She is also suspected of kicking and biting a police officer during an out-of-control episode.
The university banned Rosing, then a fourth-year student, from campus after the racist attack.
Fayette Circuit Judge Lucy VanMeter also ordered Rosing to perform 100 hours of community service Thursday. The Courier Journal reported.

He explained that due to the nature of the crime, she will be held in protective custody at the Fayette County Detention Center to serve her sentence.
