Former Governor of Maine, Paul Lepage (R), has officially registered to run for the Second Congressional District in Maine.
Documents from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) indicate that the “Paul Lepage for Congress” page was created on May 4, 2025.
The FEC records also list associated groups as the “Lepage Victory Fund.”
This development follows a social media post by Republican National Committee (RNC) member David Whitney, who indicated that Lepage would announce more details regarding his congressional campaign on Monday, as mentioned by the Bangor Daily News.
“We should have more to share tomorrow,” stated Lepage’s strategist, Brent Littlefield.
According to reports, Lepage is stepping into one of the most fierce races in the nation.
He enters an extremely competitive contest. Golden is contemplating a run to take over the term-limited seat after previously winning by fewer than 3,000 votes against Republican Austin Seria in 2024.
In July 2021, Lepage declared his intention to run for governor of Maine in 2022, having previously completed two terms as governor.
He lost to Governor Mills in November 2022, with Mills garnering 376,934 votes (55.7%) compared to Lepage’s 287,304 votes (42.4%), according to the New York Times.
