Former NFL Player Arrested in Fatal Crash
Ex-NFL cornerback Kelvin Joseph has been arrested following a tragic accident in Texas that claimed the life of a female motorcyclist, according to police reports.
The Richardson Police Department shared on social media that Joseph admitted to being involved in the incident early Saturday morning. Witnesses indicated that he was driving a BMW sedan north along the North Central Expressway when he collided with the motorcycle.
While speaking with the officer, police noted that Joseph displayed signs of intoxication. As a result, he was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and two felony charges related to causing personal injury or death.
Authorities have confirmed that 27-year-old Cody Morris from Plano died due to the crash.
At 25 years old, Joseph had been part of the United Football League’s DC Defenders this spring. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys as their second pick in 2021 after playing college football at LSU and Kentucky.
During his rookie season, he participated in 10 games, recording 16 tackles and two defended passes. However, Joseph’s off-field issues have been a concern, particularly during the offseason of 2022.
In a previous incident, Joseph was reported to be a passenger in a vehicle when shots were fired at a group of men in Dallas, but police found he wasn’t the shooter. Although he didn’t face NFL consequences at that time, it seems his trajectory has been affected since then.
In 2022, he played 16 games, making 20 tackles, while dealing with ongoing challenges. This year, he started with the Seattle Seahawks but only participated in four games and later moved to the Indianapolis Colts, again with limited playtime.
Joseph’s recent arrest has overshadowed his attempts to regain stability in his football career, leaving many wondering what the future holds for him.
