The wide receiver tight end was a second round pick of the Jets in the 1970 draft. He spent eight seasons with the Jets, then played for the Houston Oilers, New Orleans Saints, and Washington Redskins. He ended his career after the 1982 season.

In Caster’s first Pro Bowl season, he had 39 catches for 833 yards and 10 touchdowns. That season, Joe Namath had 19 touchdown passes and Bob Davis scored two. The Jets finished with 7 wins and 7 losses.

“The general approach on defense for most teams was to try to cover the tight ends with linebackers,” Caster recalled in a 2018 interview on the team’s website. But it was hardly a secret. It was unbearable.
