The Queens home of former NYPD top officer Jeffrey Madeley was searched by authorities early Thursday morning amid an investigation into allegations that he had sexual entertainment with a subordinate, the NYPD commissioner announced.
Commissioner Jessica Tisch said in a statement: “At my direction, the NYPD's Internal Affairs Bureau is working with law enforcement authorities to investigate charges against former Chief Jeffrey Madley.”
“Mr. Madley was suspended from the department this morning after law enforcement officers executed search warrants at several locations, including his residence.”
The Post reached out to Madley's attorney Thursday following the raid, but did not immediately receive a response.
This comes after Mr. Madrid, the NYPD's highest-ranking uniformed officer, abruptly resigned late last month after the Post exposed explosive allegations that he had demanded sexual favors from his subordinates in exchange for huge amounts of overtime. This was in response to the
Madley admitted that at the time she was in a “consensual adult relationship” with Lt. Quatisha Epps, but that Lt. Epps routinely preyed on her and had sex with her in exchange for eye-watering overtime pay. She denied claims that she had requested personal entertainment.
“Lieutenant, Ms. Epps was caught with her hand in the cookie jar and is attempting to deflect her misdeeds by making these allegations against Chief Madley,” he wrote when the allegations first surfaced. said Lambros Lambreaux, Epps' attorney.
Mr. Epps equated the allegations against Mr. Madrid in a complaint he filed against the city with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
She alleged that Madeley engaged in “quid pro quo sexual harassment” by forcing her to “provide unwanted sexual favors in exchange for the opportunity to work overtime at work.”
Mr. Epps, who held an administrative position in Mr. Madley's office, was the NYPD's top earner in fiscal year 2024, according to salary data.
Of the more than $400,000 she raked in; More than half was overtime pay.
