David Plouffe, former campaign manager for President Barack Obama, has joined Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, and the new Democratic nominee has retained her entire leadership team for President Biden’s re-election effort.
Harris secured the Democratic presidential nomination on Friday, just weeks before the Democratic National Convention begins Aug. 19 in Chicago.
The vice presidential campaign, now in full swing, is expected to include members of President Biden’s suspended reelection campaign as well as several experienced Democratic activists helping with the campaign to defeat former President Trump in November.
Jen O’Malley Dillon, Biden’s campaign chair, has agreed to stay on in her top role, reporting directly to Harris, and is expected to run the campaign from Biden’s headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware.

Julie Chavez Rodriguez will remain as Campaign Manager, Rob Flaherty will continue as Deputy Campaign Manager, Quentin Fulks will continue as Principal Deputy Campaign Manager and Michael Tyler will continue as Communications Director.
The Harris campaign has also hired Liz Allen as chief of staff for Harris’ yet-to-be-announced running mate, and Megan Rooney as lead speechwriter.

Brian Fallon, who served as communications director for the Department of Justice in the Obama administration, aide to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and national press secretary for Hillary Clinton in 2016, will also join the Harris campaign as senior communications adviser.
Plouffe, a former campaign manager for Mr. Obama, is serving as a senior adviser on “The Road to 270” and future strategy. Sources said Plouffe will be suspending his TikTok and podcast consulting work while advising the campaign.
Jen Palmieri, who ran communications for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and served as Obama’s White House communications director, will also join the Harris campaign as an adviser to Sen. Doug Emhoff, R-N.

Other senior consultants on the team include Mitch Stewart, who serves as senior adviser for battleground states, and Terrance Woodbury, who will monitor polls.
Top consultants are not expected to work in Wilmington.
David Binder is also expected to play a leading role in polling and research alongside his existing team.
The Harris campaign is also adding a new paid media strategy and continuing to work with Blue Sky, Connexion and Truxton, as well as potentially GMMB. Fulks will oversee that program.

Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge will become campaign co-chair and take on an expanded role to include communications and strategy, while co-chair Rep. Cedric Richmond will remain a longtime adviser to Harris.
A source close to the campaign said the team is being put in place to “respond and manage what’s coming” in terms of the volume and intensity of work that comes with election season.
The move also reflects an “all-out” stance in the final stretch before the November election, the source said. Democrats are “united,” the person said.
The new team was named after Harris secured the nomination on Friday.

“I am very proud Vice President Harris “He has received more than half of the votes from all delegates to the Democratic National Convention and will be the Democratic nominee once voting closes on Monday,” Democratic National Convention Chairman Jaime Harrison said in a statement.
“I am honored to be nominated as the Democratic Party’s candidate for president of the United States,” Harris said in a conference call with supporters on Friday.
She emphasized that “the tireless efforts of our delegation, state leaders and staff have been crucial in making this moment possible.”

The news came during the Democratic National Committee’s virtual roll call for the nomination, which began Thursday and will continue through Monday.
While Harris’ nomination was seemingly in doubt, only the vice-presidential position was on the presidential nomination list, making her the first woman of color to lead a major party’s national campaign, a historic milestone in the nation’s history.
