Ex-officer who stormed Capitol with Proud Boys on Jan. 6 sentenced to prison

On Wednesday, a former police officer and member of the Proud Boys was sentenced to 14 months in prison for storming the Capitol on January 6, 2021, after the 2020 presidential election.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly ordered Nathaniel Tuck of Apopka, Florida, to pay $2,000 in restitution plus a $2,000 fine for his involvement in the insurrection.

“Nathaniel Tuck was the only member of the group who was able to weave his way through multiple lines of Capitol Police officers, and in doing so made physical contact with at least one officer.” the prosecutor wrote.

“Nathaniel Tuck was one of the few rioters to successfully enter the building through the Senate carriage door when police attempted to force the mob out of the building through the Senate carriage door,” they added. . “Nathaniel Tuck spent the better part of the next hour inside the Capitol building, where he berated staff members, calling them 'communists'.”

He then posed for photos with other Proud Boys members, court documents show.

Tuck pleaded guilty in September to a felony charge of obstructing law enforcement during a civil disturbance and a misdemeanor charge of entering and remaining in a restricted area.

President-elect Trump has promised to pardon those criminally charged in the riot upon his return to office. More than 1,500 people have been charged with crimes related to the Capitol.

Several rioters petitioned to attend President Trump's second inauguration later this month.
