Ex-Ranger Vladimir Tarasenko provided the dagger in Game 6

Highlights and lowlights from the Rangers’ season-ending, 2-1 loss to the Panthers in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday night:

1. Vladimir Tarasenko

It was a cruel irony for the Rangers that the game-winning goal came from a player they acquired at last season’s trade deadline, this time to Florida.

2. Sam Bennett

In the end, Bennett’s first-period goal was the only point of the game for a while, blunting the momentum of a hot start for the Rangers.

3. Sergey Bobrovsky

The Panthers’ goaltenders haven’t been asked to do as much as their opponents in this series, but they did exactly that on Saturday.

Quote of the Day

“We were hoping to come here tonight, win a hockey game and come back to MSG for Game 7. So there’s some disappointment that comes with that.”
