A Reality Star’s Chilling Plea
A former participant in a brief reality TV series centered on swinging in southwestern Ohio has entered a not guilty plea by reason of insanity regarding serious sexual offenses that reportedly left law enforcement “speechless.”
Tony McCollister, 43, faced accusations of uploading images depicting child sexual abuse to his Google account on November 23, along with allegations of engaging in sexual acts with two dogs he owned, according to prosecutors.
McCollister was arrested on December 23 in Union Township, Ohio. Initially charged with felony theft of obscene materials involving a child and a misdemeanor related to animal conduct, he was ordered to maintain distance from both children and pets, receiving a bail set at $250,000.
Authorities noted that McCollister’s home was also associated with Erica Grove, 43, who is facing charges of misdemeanor animal sexual conduct. On the same day of McCollister’s arrest, Grove was summoned to court.
Investigators subsequently uncovered evidence suggesting that the couple had drugged a girl under six years old with intentions of sexually assaulting her.
“To think they drugged the girl to rape her—it’s hard to wrap your head around,” remarked Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell. “And, believe it or not, the sexual acts with the dog weren’t even the most terrifying part of the situation. As the investigation advanced, we realized the extent of their capabilities, which is profoundly disturbing.”
McCollister has been charged with 30 counts related to the allegations, while Grove faces 24 counts.
On Thursday, McCollister pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity and filed a motion for a mental health evaluation at the time of the alleged offenses.
Interestingly, McCollister featured in A&E’s “Neighbors with Benefits” in 2015, presenting himself as a swinger living in suburban Ohio. After a promotional clip aired, viewers reacted with shock and anger.
Activist organizations like One Million Moms and Citizens for Community Values expressed outrage, leading to the show’s cancellation after just two episodes.
