Marjorie Taylor Greene Criticizes Army Secretary Over Pentagon Post
Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) accused Army Secretary Pete Hegseth of displaying “bloodlust” following his social media post about U.S. soldiers who died in action amid the ongoing conflict with Iran.
In a post shared from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) regarding the fatalities of American troops in Jordan, Hegseth wrote, “Godspeed heroes. Their sacrifice only strengthens our resolve.”
Greene responded to Hegseth’s message by expressing her disbelief: “Sacrifices?? What are you talking about?? They were not willing sacrifices. They were killed because of the war you Trump and the administrators are waging on behalf of a foreign country, Israel. Their deaths fuel the bloodlust for a senseless war.”
Former counterterrorism official Joe Kent continues to advocate for withdrawing U.S. troops from the Middle East.
Fox News Digital reached out to both the White House and the Department of the Army on Monday for comments.
In part, CENTCOM stated, “On July 17, two U.S. military personnel in Jordan were killed in action as U.S. Central Command and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks.” The report also mentioned that one military member was missing.
Greene later shared CENTCOM’s announcement, saying, “I am praying for the families and friends of the two fallen soldiers and the third soldier who is missing. This should never happen. President Trump needs to bring our troops home and stop this stupid America’s last war!!!”
According to an update from CENTCOM on Sunday, “Yesterday, U.S. Central Command announced that two U.S. service members were killed, and one is missing in Jordan following the July 17 attack on Iran. After an extensive search, U.S. military personnel discovered an unidentified body at the scene earlier today. An investigative process to identify the remains is underway.” Additionally, on July 18, a U.S. service member was killed in northern Iraq during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian drone, with another service member sustaining minor injuries.
It’s worth noting that Greene had a fallout with President Donald Trump last year and departed Congress midway through her two-year term in early January.
