Ex-Southwest Airlines employee charged with selling phony travel vouchers for $1.9M

Brooks, 46, of Chicago, has been charged with four counts of wire fraud. Each offense carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

Martin worked at Southwest from November 2018 to June 2022.

As a customer service agent, he had the authority to issue vouchers to customers who had service issues.

Brooks and others texted Martin when they wanted the voucher, according to the indictment.

Prosecutors are seeking about $1.9 million from Martin, about $732,000 from Brooks, about $27,000 in cash, and the 2021 Land Rover.
