Michele Tafoya Announces Senate Run in Minnesota

Former sportscaster Michele Tafoya has declared her intention to run for the Senate as a Republican, emphasizing the need for someone from outside the political arena who can hold politicians accountable. She expressed her belief that Minnesota has experienced a significant “failure of leadership at almost every level,” attributing the rise of fraud and unrest to career politicians, whom she believes have contributed to a transformation of the state into a “war zone” under the influence of the far left.

On “The Brian Kilmeade Show,” Tafoya stated, “This isn’t really right versus left. It’s more about right versus wrong. I want to return to the common sense that helped build Minnesota and this country, away from the current insanity and corruption.” She shared that witnessing political failures and civil unrest compelled her to transition from sportscasting to a political career.

She criticized current politicians, saying, “They’re not doing their job. I’m going to step up and do it. If not now, when?” Tafoya believes that the issues in Minnesota can be tackled effectively if everyone works together.

Discussing the challenges she faces, Tafoya cited Minnesota’s last Republican senator, Norm Coleman, who served from 2003 to 2009. When asked about her chances of winning the position, she humorously recalled that unexpected wins, like Indiana University’s recent football championship, can happen. Tafoya conveyed that residents are tired of the situation in the state, sharing insights from conversations with Minnesotans who wish to remain in the state.

She acknowledged her uphill battle but is optimistic about the changing political landscape. “There’s a significant number of Minnesotans unhappy with the current situation… They’re angry about fraud and misallocation of funds that were meant to assist children but went to criminals,” she noted. Furthermore, she pointed out that Tim Walz’s resignation signals a toxic political climate and believes that change is imminent in Minnesota, and she aspires to be a part of that transformation.
