Scott Brown Eyes Senate Comeback in New Hampshire
Former Republican Senator Scott Brown from Massachusetts is looking to re-enter the political scene. He aims to enhance the GOP’s representation on Capitol Hill.
Brown, who once served in the Senate and was later an ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa during Donald Trump’s presidency, revealed on Wednesday his plans to reclaim a Senate seat in New Hampshire, aiming to succeed retiring Democrat Jeanne Shaheen.
“Chris Pappas wants a better title. I want a better America,” he declared at his announcement.
Brown has emerged as a prominent candidate following former GOP Governor Chris Sununu’s decision not to run for the seat, positioning himself to potentially challenge Democrat Chris Pappas.
“Like many of you, I’m worried about the direction our country is headed,” Brown mentioned during his announcement. “New Hampshire is a wonderful place to live, work, and raise families, yet in Washington, our representation isn’t quite right.
In his post on X, he emphasized his motivation: “I’m running to bring common sense back to the U.S. Senate, ensure our borders are secure, and advocate for New Hampshire values.” He continues to take a jab at Pappas, stating that the Democrat is after a title.
Both of New Hampshire’s Senate seats have seen Democrat hold for several elections. However, this race could offer Republicans a viable chance. New Hampshire has had a Republican governor since 2016, and the GOP boasts a majority in the state Senate. Although Democrats have often won, they’ve done so by narrow margins in recent years. Given the solid Republican presence in the state, there’s a significant opportunity for the GOP to regain a crucial Senate seat.
