Ex-Trump impeachment manager accuses House GOP of ‘fishing’ for Biden crimes after bombshell report

House Democrats who played a major role in the first impeachment trial of former President Trump are criticizing the Republican Party's own impeachment push against former President Biden.

“I don't see any evidence here. The problem is they wanted to create impeachment, so they started with impeachment and then they started looking and trawling for evidence,” Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colorado, told Fox News Digital last week.

“There's nothing there, and the report clearly confirms that once again. It's a shame we wasted valuable time going through that process in Parliament.”

Crow was one of seven House Democrats selected by then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to lead the impeachment effort against President Trump in 2020. He was one of two first-term members of that team.

“Congress did in fact pass funding for Ukraine. The president withheld that funding, which is illegal. The president does not have the authority to withhold funding that Congress has appropriated for a specific purpose,” Crow said. “The president's job is to make sure that funding is spent appropriately and to do that. So that's what happened, and then Congress investigated and there was impeachment proceedings.”

“Compared to the way the Republicans have done it, they just said they want to impeach Biden. And then they started looking for reasons to impeach, and of course they couldn't come up with any.”

His comments came after House Republicans released a report accusing Biden of committing impeachable offenses in connection with his family's overseas business dealings.

The move comes as a years-long investigation by the House Oversight, Judiciary and Ways and Means committees looking into whether Biden used his position as vice president for personal or family benefit.

Rep. James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky who chairs the House Oversight Committee, disputed Crow's comments through a spokesman, telling Fox News Digital, “It is not surprising that Democrats who dismiss concerns about whether Joe Biden is mentally healthy to serve out the remainder of his term would also deny the clear evidence that Joe Biden is involved in his family's business ventures.”

“Bank records do not lie and reveal that the Biden family and their associates made nearly $30 million from selling Biden brands. Multiple witnesses have confirmed that Joe Biden was involved in the family's business schemes, as he dined, talked, had coffee and met with nearly all of the family's overseas business associates. This is clear corruption and abuse of office.”

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, told Fox News Digital, “Our impeachment investigation conclusively shows that Joe Biden abused his office for the personal financial benefit of the Biden family and Biden business associates. The facts speak for themselves, and Democrats can no longer distort the truth to protect President Biden.”

“There is overwhelming evidence that President Biden engaged in a conspiracy to exploit the trust placed in his public office to enrich his family,” the report said.

“Other aspects of this conspiracy included members of the Biden family and their business associates receiving tens of millions of dollars from foreign interests who believed such payments would give them access and influence over President Biden,” the report said.

The committee said the Biden family and associates have received more than $27 million from foreign individuals and entities since 2014.

The White House responded to the report last week, saying, “This failed ploy will be remembered only as an embarrassment that caused lawmakers to distance themselves from it, offering only evidence to disprove their own false and unfounded conspiracy theories. The American people deserve more from House Republicans, and perhaps they will now finally align with President Biden and focus on the real issues that truly concern American families.”
