Calls for Cognitive Testing for Biden
A former doctor from the White House under the Obama administration has suggested that President Biden should have undergone cognitive testing in his last year, especially considering his age and the perceived decline noted during that time.
Jeffrey Courman pointed out that such testing could provide insight into Biden’s mental capabilities and his readiness to serve for another term. He remarked, “Sometimes people closest to the trees miss the forest.”
Biden’s regular physician, Kevin O’Connor, did not conduct a cognitive assessment as he believed formal results were unnecessary to affirm the former president’s mental health. During a briefing, it was emphasized that, according to O’Connor, the president demonstrates cognitive fitness daily by managing diverse topics effectively.
“You saw him speaking about his fight against crime today. Tomorrow, he’s addressing the border situation. Next week, he’ll be delivering a Union speech,” noted press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
Recently, O’Connor was called before James Kommer, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, to explain why he opted not to conduct a cognitive test.
Biden’s busy schedule has included numerous trips, including two international journeys leading up to his first debate with Trump. Jean-Pierre previously reassured reporters, stating, “It’s a very tough job, and the president has managed to do this every day for the past three years.”
However, Courman argues that it’s essential to have clear evidence of Biden’s mental agility. He emphasized that health assessments should be comprehensive, not just general health checks. “It should be about fitness, not just health,” he argued. “Fitness includes having a sharp mind, body, and spirit to manage demanding physical and emotional responsibilities.”
A few months post-retirement, Biden was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and there were reports of him experiencing mental strain while in office. In a recent post, he reflected, “Cancer touches all of us. Like many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are the strongest in the places we’ve broken. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”
