The streets of Black Live Plaza, renamed Liberty Plaza by DC Mayor Muriel Bowser in 2020, served as a divisive partisan message during the 2020 campaign season as the riots after George Floyd's death paralyzed the city.
On March 3, Clyde reintroduced his bill, deleted the message and renamed the Plaza – just a block from the White House – Breitbart News reported exclusively.

“It wouldn't have happened without pressure,” Clyde told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview Monday. “So we're trying to create a more efficient government. President Trump is pushing for the message that this is America's golden age. You can't have the message “Black Lives Matter” drawn in 40-foot letters across multiple blocks in Washington, DC.
“It's a divisive message. America's golden age is not divisive in nature.”
The Home Rules Act of 1973 gave DC local autonomy, but Congress has the power to consider all DC laws that completely overturn all DC laws, under the terms of the law.
Trump argued that the federal government controls district government amid a wave of crime and homelessness promoted by authorities that prioritize political stance over healthy governance.
Clyde called the DC Home Rules “45 Years of Experiment,” criticising the city for pushing its divisionality, even if the November election was “an absolute referendum by the country on this type of thing.”
“It was a racial theory that was critical of everyone rejected by the American people, and a message from the American people about orientation, day, day,” he told Breitbart News.
Georgia House of Representatives introduced the law in previous legislatures to override the DC Home Rules. He also introduced bipartisan laws to overturn a bill that undermines the controversial DC Act, a bill signed into law by President Joe Biden.
“The Constitution gives Congress full legislative power over the cities,” Clyde said. And the city is to become the shining light of Jiyuno Hill. ”
Announcing the change to Black Lives Matter Plaza, Bowser's statement refers to the federal authority over the district and appears to imply that the change is intended to gain favor from the Trump administration.
“We are very grateful to the mayor for recognising council powers and allowing them to fund the city of Washington, D.C.,” Clyde told Breitbart News. “When I introduced this law, it took her about 24 hours to realise, 'Hey, I think it's really appropriate for us to remove the Black Lives Matter Plaza and succumb to the will of Congress.” ” Because we fund the entire city. ”

Clyde made it clear that there is more work to be done in council to improve the district.
“We're just seeing an increase in crimes ramping in cities,” he said. “We have a radical city council that continues to make bad decisions, and it's time for council to exercise its power and regain it.”
When asked by Breitbart News whether Congress would take further action on the DC Home Rules, Clyde was teased that he would come more.
“Stand,” he said. “I'm here.”
