Not everyone is happy. On the Instagram post, many commenters lamented the rule change and the potential loss of cultural cache.
One Instagram user wrote: “That keulu is gone.” “I loved the mystery,” someone else chimed in. “Woof, woof, woof, woof,” shouted another.
frog club is the latest project from superstar chef Liz Johnson, who opened her restaurant earlier this year.
This zany, highbrow homespun joint has been a huge success, attracting the likes of one of the world's richest men, Jeff Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sanchez.
Page Six reported on Bezos. At the table, even the most expensive menu item, “Kiss the Chef for $1,000,'' is a big deal, and guests can lean in to kiss Johnson on the cheek.
When asked who gave him the Smackeroo, Johnson told Page Six, “It was a fun night, but I won't kiss you and tell you :).”
Another behavior that Chef Johnson deemed a violation that should be prohibited is “lying that it's your birthday.''
The Frog Club, located at 86 Bedford in Manhattan's West Village, bills itself as “New York's most New York room,” and features a mural of frogs in suits engaging in various revelries. Memorabilia makes up the majority of the decorations, and if you touch or “try” to touch any of them, you will be disciplined.
The menu includes burgers served in homemade English muffins with sidewinder fries, lobster pierogies topped with caviar, and escargot casserole.
At the time of publication, Frog Club had not responded to comment.
