A chocolate brand has increased its product recall due to concerns about salmonella contamination.
Spring & Mulberry’s voluntary recall was broadened after an initial recall involving a single item was announced on Monday, according to a report on Fox Business.
The new list of recalled flavors now includes Early Grey, Lavender Rose, Mango Chili, Mint Leaf, Mixed Berry, Mulberry Fennel, Pecan Date, and Pure Dark Mini.
“Affected products are set to be available online and at specific retail partners nationwide starting September 15, 2025,” the company stated in a recent update on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website.
The lot numbers that are part of the recall include 025258, 025259, 025260, 025283, 025255, 025275, 025281, 025337, 025345, 025261, 025265, 025267, 025268, 025339, and 025343.
Spring & Mulberry mentioned that their plant-based sweets are created without added sugar, cocoa, or organic ingredients.
“So far, there have not been any reported illnesses or health issues. The contamination risk was highlighted after a finished product tested positive in routine checks done by the company’s contract manufacturer.” the company reported on the FDA site.
“If customers have bought products from the affected lots, they should not consume them and should dispose of them right away. Refunds or replacements can be arranged by reaching out to Spring & Mulberry at recalls@springandmulberry.com with a photo of the lot code,” it continued.
As noted on the Cleveland Clinic website, salmonella is a type of bacteria often linked to food poisoning and can result in an illness that generally lasts several days.
A salmonella infection indicates that enough bacteria have evaded the stomach acid and immune defenses to cause sickness. This bacteria can invade and damage the cells lining the intestines, complicating the body’s ability to absorb water, which can lead to stomach cramps. Diarrhea can occur as water exits the body.
Salmonella can be contagious, transferring between individuals or from pets. Therefore, it’s crucial to wash your hands after using the bathroom and when feeling unwell.
