Experts believe Kenneth Cutting's death in the Houston bayou requires further investigation.

Mysterious Death of Kenneth Cutting Jr. Raises Questions

The unexplained death of Kenneth Cutting Jr. in Houston’s Bayou has led experts to call for further investigation, saying the autopsy findings alone don’t provide enough clarity. Dr. Priya Banerjee, a forensic pathologist, expressed agreement with the initial findings from Dr. Edward Kilbane of the Harris County Forensic Laboratory. She noted that the autopsy fails to definitively explain Cutting’s death or whether his body was moved after entering the bayou.

Dr. Banerjee refrained from speculating on the circumstances, emphasizing that answers for Cutting’s family remain unclear and are tied up in ongoing investigations. A spokesperson for the Houston Police Department informed that they plan to look deeper into the case.

Kenneth Cutting Jr. was found on July 1, 2024, after going missing a few days earlier. Autopsy results revealed fluid in his lungs, but it remains uncertain if this indicates drowning. While food particles were found in his throat, his stomach showed signs of natural decomposition.

“His electronic footprint may hold more significance,” Dr. Banerjee commented, hinting that digital evidence could be more revealing.

Earlier, surveillance videos shown to Fox News Digital indicated Cutting was last seen during an outing at Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar in downtown Houston, during which he argued with one of his roommates. Despite seeming to leave on bad terms, the two roommates later reconnected, but Cutting did not make it home.

Following known facts, Cutting’s father and relatives indicated that he was not impaired, and authorities confirmed a toxicology report showed no drugs in his system. Concerns about potential foul play were echoed by Kevin Gannon, a former NYPD detective, who stated that, although the case doesn’t align with theories surrounding a supposed “smiley face killer,” something feels off about this death.

Cutting’s father is doubtful that his son fell into the bayou since he could swim, adding that his son shouldn’t have been near the water at all. He, along with other family members, urged for a deeper investigation, suggesting that the police should analyze Cutting’s phone for more clues.

Houston officials have downplayed suggestions of a serial killer, despite sixteen bodies being discovered in the bayous this year alone. Mayor John Whitmire minimized speculation, attributing the issue to homelessness and drug problems, which drew criticism from Cutting’s family, who deemed his comments as dismissive. They called for a thorough investigation into all the recent deaths.

At a recent press conference, Whitmire asked the public for patience as authorities work on these investigations, insisting that there is currently no evidence pointing towards a serial killer in Houston.

Joseph Giacalone, a former NYPD sergeant, noted that until proven otherwise, cases like Cutting’s with ambiguity surrounding the cause of death should be treated as murder investigations.
