There’s a sense of complacency among the ultra-left professionals. I mean, some don’t seem to know that “NATO” actually stands for “North Atlantic Treaty Organization.”
Shockingly, some journalists, supposedly well-trained in fact-checking, think “NATO” means “Northern Nations” Treaty Organization.
Take a look at this headline…
Now, you might say, “Oh, it’s just a mistake. These things happen.”
But honestly, that’s not really the point.
To begin with, the intention behind that headline was to be clever: the idea was that Donald Trump, seen as incompetent, wants to pull America from an institution essentially named after it. It’s a ridiculous notion, right?
The article seems to lean on that little bit of cleverness.
And frankly, they seem to be tempting fate.
Secondly, yes, everyone blunders. I certainly do. But I don’t pretend to be infallible, unlike the self-righteous folks at the newspaper in question. They disdainfully critique those who challenge their beliefs or biases. So, who’s truly out of touch here?
Moreover, with a rather disingenuous effort, that publication easily exploits any slip-up made by someone on the right.
Finally, aside from their inflated sense of superiority, were they even thinking? “North America,” really? Out of the 32 NATO members, only two hail from North America. And it’s not like those countries are in a weak position that would justify Trump’s frustration.
This situation exemplifies a troubling lack of knowledge. How many people reviewed that headline before it went public? Why did this occur? It seems many only care about promoting specific political narratives while opposing Trump, particularly regarding the threats posed by rogue states.
They claim, “The correction will appear in tomorrow’s print edition.” They say: “The headline on Friday’s article about President Trump’s threat to withdraw from NATO misidentified the organization’s official name. It’s the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, not the North American Treaty Organization.”
In the end, corporate media seems more adept at preserving their own turf.
