F1 Chinese Grand Prix qualifying results

The grid is set to Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix.

Oscar Piastri: “Thanks to the hairpins [his] Life” raided before the field to earn his first Grand Prix pole position. He pinchs George Russell for P1 in a thrilling qualifying session and starts in front of McLaren's teammate Randnoris.

The Max Verstappen is hiding, of course. This is because the F1 driver champion will start with Norris in P4.

Saturday's qualifying session provided some surprises throughout the field. Rookie driver Isaac Hajar, along with fellow rookie Kimmi Antoneri, entered the third quarter, taking seventh place, rebounding from a difficult start to his Formula 1 career. Hadjar's Visa Cash App Racing Bulls teammate Yuki Tunoda continues to have a strong start to the 2025 F1 campaign. He will be in ninth place after scoring his first points of the season in the Formula 1 sprint race earlier in the day.

At the other end of the grid, Liam Lawson's struggle at Red Bull continues. After finishing 18th in the Australian Grand Prix, Lawson competed in the P20 in both the Formula 1 sprint race and the Shanghai Grand Prix itself.

“I don't know how else to put it down. That's not enough,” the Red Bull driver admitted after qualifying.

Here's how the entire grid line up at the Chinese Grand Prix:
