Arvid Lindblad Prepares for Miami Grand Prix
Last season brought new faces and a handful of rookies to the Formula 1 grid. This year, however, it’s a different story, as Arvid Lindblad stands out as the sole rookie.
The 18-year-old driver has already made a mark by scoring points during his debut at the Australian Grand Prix. After a lengthy break, Lindblad is now gearing up for his first Miami Grand Prix, aiming for a strong start to the season.
Prior to the Miami race, Lindblad shared insights about his early F1 journey with SB Nation, discussing areas he aims to improve and his expectations for the upcoming race.
Lindblad’s F1 Season So Far
With only three races under his belt, we kicked off the conversation by asking how he would rate his rookie season.
“I think it went pretty well. I mean, Melbourne was my first race and scoring Q3 points was a pretty amazing experience. Japan had its highlights too,” Lindblad reflected.
He added, “To be honest, there were some great moments that really boosted my confidence, showing me that I can deliver. But, of course, there were also things that didn’t go as planned, pointing out areas for me to work on. It’s early in my rookie season, and I’m confident about the journey ahead.”
During his debut in Australia, finishing eighth and earning points was beyond his expectations.
“It was pretty cool,” he recalled. “I’ve always dreamed of being in Formula 1. The day was special, and having my parents there made it even more memorable.”
He shared, “Just being in third place for a moment during the first lap? That was more than I ever imagined.”
Having scored points in his first outing, we wondered what Lindblad aspired to next—perhaps a podium or even a win?
Interestingly, his focus isn’t solely on that. “I might say a podium is the next logical step, but that’s not something I’m fixating on,” he explained. “At the end of the day, results matter.”
He acknowledged, “We still have plenty of improvements to make. I’m focused on learning and evolving. If I make the right strides, that will lead to results, but it’s not something I’m constantly thinking about.”
This year presents a unique situation, as last year several rookies joined the grid, but Lindblad alone takes on the challenge of being a rookie for 2026. Reflecting on this, he shared how it shapes his experience.
“Honestly, I don’t dwell on it. I’ve moved up the ranks quite rapidly—each year a new category in single-seaters. In karting, I was always eager to progress, so I’m accustomed to being the newcomer,” Lindblad said.
“F1 is a different ballgame, but getting thrown into the deep end feels familiar. It’s about facing the challenge and finding my way through it.”
The conversation shifted to the collaboration between VCARB and Mobil, shedding light on how it would support him and his teammate, Liam Lawson.
“The partnership with Mobil is huge,” Lindblad noted. “I’ve learned so much, and it was impressive to see the advancements.”
He continued, “With a new engine this year, their expertise has really ensured our first Red Bull engine operates smoothly. The team and I truly appreciate their contribution. Plus, it’s great knowing that the experts behind our race fuel are also involved at the fuel stations.”
Fans can also engage in Miami festivities. Have you ever wanted to hop into a simulator and challenge F1 drivers? This opportunity arises on Wednesday, April 29th, and Thursday, April 30th, at a local Mobil Station.
Lindblad plans to attend the event, looking forward to the interaction and experience. “Mobil is doing a fan event, and I’m excited to be part of it—a simulator, free merchandise, and interacting with fans is going to be great,” he said.
As the Miami Grand Prix approaches, Lindblad has been preparing vigorously. “Preparation is key,” he shared. “This being my first race back on a new track adds some unique challenges. The simulations help, but nothing truly compares to being on the track during an actual race.”
He expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming race, stating, “I’m really looking forward to the weekend. It’s my first time in Miami, and I’ve heard wonderful things about this event.”
Notably, he mentioned, “Our paddock is in an NFL stadium—that’s just insane to even think about.”
This year marks significant achievements for Arvid Lindblad, including scoring points in his debut. Now, the anticipation builds as he prepares to tackle his first Miami Grand Prix.
