Restaurants, pubs and clubs are opening all around the city, including Daily Provisions from Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group, which will bring even more life to 30 Rock’s concourse dining area this fall.
But the big news on booming West 47th Street is that Langan’s, the legendary Irish bar and restaurant that closed in January 2018, will be returning later this year.

Des O’Brien’s Pig ‘n’ Whistle Group plans to open a new Langan’s at the Durst Organization’s 114 W. 47th St., a half block east of the original store. The long-vacant space will be about 4,000 square feet.
O’Brien said it will be a “modern” comeback with a “slightly Victorian, slightly industrial, traditional look” beneath 24-foot-high ceilings.
The chef, whom he declined to name, has created a contemporary “American-Mediterranean-continental fusion menu,” which he promises will be “tastier than your standard pub fare.”

Over its 25 years, the original Langan’s has attracted everyone from Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin to Senator John McCain and Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols, as well as a host of journalists and media professionals.
Surrounded by three new hotels and the relocated Palace Theater, the old Langan’s storefront at 150 West 47th Street remains dark.
