Fairfax Democrats Choose Easter Sunday as ‘Transgender Visibility Day’

Fairfax County, Virginia, has designated Easter Sunday in 2024 as “Transgender Visibility Day,” a move many Christians see as a takeover of their holiest holiday.

The Fairfax County Board of Education has added Transgender Visibility Day to its previous LGBT Pride Month in June and LGBT History Month in October, marking 62 days of notable LGBT events in the district’s schools. A festival was held.

Reverend Emma Chattin, Executive Director of the Transgender Education Association, said: was praised The board’s decision asserted that visibility is “especially heroic for trans women of color in communities who face intersecting obstacles of prejudice when it comes to safety, housing, employment, and health care.”

All nine Democrats on the school board voted in favor of the bill, but the school board’s nominal Republican, Patrick Herrity, did not appear for the vote.

Commenting on Herrity’s absence, board member James Walkinshaw said: “We look forward to the day when we can see a packed platform for this declaration. That day will come.” “One way or another, that day will come.”

Democratic Daria Palchik, the county’s Providence district supervisor, echoed similar sentiments. “What we say from this podium matters,” she said. “What is said in the community, what our leaders say, and the results really matter.”

“Transgender students are depressed,” Palczyk argued. “Nearly half have considered suicide. Across our LGBT community, we are the only community with higher rates of depression, suicide attempts, and suicidal thoughts than any other.” I understand.”

“For me, it is a moral obligation and a public health obligation to come together,” she said.
