Fairleigh Dickinson’s historic season ends with March Madness to TCU

Fairy Dickinson coach Stephanie Gately timed out with 1:13 left and called the team to the huddle.

The team wrapped their arms around each other like a large group of embraces.

She wanted the team to experience this moment.

Fairy Dickinson made history this season, setting a program record with victory (29) and appeared in the Knights' first NCAA tournament.

But their historic year ended Friday when the second-seeded TCU defeated 15th seed Fairy Dickinson 73-51 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Knights made a brave effort.

Freshman Ava Renninger added 12 points, three assists and two rebounds.

Ultimately, this wasn't a Fairy Dickinson game to win, he lost the TCU.

The TCU had sizes, lengths and experiences that Fairy Dickinson could not match.

However, the Knights tried out the old university on it.

They outperformed TCU 17-14 in the first quarter and sweated Mark Campbell's team in the second quarter.

TCU began to pull apart second, taking a 35-27 lead in the half.

The Knights eventually missed too many shots, and the horned frog defenses tumbled them, forcing them to consecutive shot clock violations at some point in the third quarter.

Ultimately, the Knights story ends in the first round.
