Christian leaders are reacting to Democratic candidate Kamala Harris’ selection of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate. Harris, who was selected as President Joe Biden’s running mate last month amid concerns about her mental and physical health, publicly named Walz as her running mate at a rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
“He’s the kind of guy who makes people feel like they belong and inspires them to dream big,” Harris said of Waltz. Parents “That’s the kind of vice president he’ll be, and that’s the kind of president America wants.”
according to Christian PostWalz has served as Minnesota’s governor since 2018 and is up for reelection in 2022. He was reportedly selected because he is a military veteran and gun owner, and because he represented Minnesota’s conservative Republicans during his time in Congress. The Washington Post report.
Christian leaders and commentators have offered mixed reviews of Harris’ selection of Waltz. Christian Post I will report.
“Harris and Waltz’s records show exactly what they stand for.” Tweeted Allie Beth Stuckey, Christian author and podcaster. “Under them, you’ll be poorer, you’ll have less security, you’ll have less freedom, but at least they’ll allow doctors to kill full-term babies.”
“Soft on crime policies that encourage violent insurrection and repeat offenders,” “requiring men to use women’s restrooms,” “nine months of taxpayer paid abortions,” “suppression of speech that serves the LGBTQ and abortion lobby,” “open border policies that will create 1,000 more Laken Rileys,” and “economic policies that will cause even more inflation.”

Timothy Head, executive director of the conservative Christian group Faith and Freedom Union, also issued a warning to Walz.
Democrats will “try to recast Tim Walz as a centrist,” but Head argued that Walz “is the most left-wing governor in Minnesota history.”
“Walz’s Minnesota has become an oasis for left-wing radicals, pro-abortion Democrats, criminals and illegal immigrants while hard-working Americans and faithful Christians are abandoned,” Head said.
“As governor, he legalized abortion up to nine months into pregnancy, enacted the ‘trans refugee bill’ that criminalized medical treatment for gay people, promoted access to sex-reassignment surgery and cross-sex hormone therapy for minors, and even had a 12-year-old ‘transgender’ child present at a bill signing.”
Head also noted the governor showed “weak leadership” during the 2020 riots, when Walz allowed Minneapolis to burn for three days before calling in the National Guard.
“He cannot be relied on to protect people of faith. In many ways his policies and leadership have ruined Minnesota, and as vice president with Kamala Harris he will do the same for our country,” Head added.
Meanwhile, the Rev. Al Sharpton, a prominent African-American political activist, endorsed Walz’s selection as Harris’ running mate.
“In 2020, we called for justice for George Floyd in Minneapolis. Governor Walz heeded our calls and appointed Attorney General Ellison to lead the investigation, which showed me that he is someone who will listen to his constituents and act in their interests.” Tweeted Sharpton.
Sharpton’s post included a video of Walz attending the funeral of Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old African-American man who was killed by a police officer in Minnesota in 2021.

“Governor Walz can be trusted to demonstrate the same openness he shares with Vice President Kamala Harris, who will be a trusted partner as she leads the country.”
Sharpton also argued that Walz “has shown he is not afraid to confront those who try to take our country back, which will move us forward,” and that he “supports Kamala Harris as she seeks to break down significant barriers and become the first black woman president in the process.”
