Justin Theroux’s Insights on the New Season of fall out
Justin Theroux shared his surprise upon reading the opening scene of fall out Season 2. It just resonated with him, in a way, maybe because it set the tone right from the start.
After a recap of Season 1, the new season kicks off in a dimly lit bar. Theroux’s character, the enigmatic tech CEO Robert House, prompts a bizarre situation where three patrons end up in a fight. One of them ends up implanting a device that forces him to attack his friends with a baseball bat.
“It’s a pretty intriguing introduction to Robert House,” he told DECIDER during an interview. “It throws out different threads concerning the device and House’s motivations, although those elements seem rooted in the past.”
The scene wraps up with House in an alley, realizing that a monster he created is about to turn on him, leading to a shocking conclusion. For Theroux, joining the cast this season, it’s an exciting way to maintain an element of surprise.
“I love it because it represents a positive outlook,” he says. “We see elements of Robert House that we and the fans have come to know, yet it remains mysterious enough for us to ponder his full involvement in this wild situation and the impending chaos.”
He continued, “I thought the scene was great. It’s fascinating that he’s, in a way, conducting market research right at the start, using his devices to engage with people directly.”
Fans are surely left wondering about Robert’s larger role, especially given the hints of his involvement in a nuclear apocalypse teased in early trailers. In that footage, Cooper, also known as Ghoul (played by Walton Goggins), hints at returning to the source of the chaos, just as Theroux’s character foreshadows their eventual meeting.
In the trailer, House tells Cooper, “You and I are both top of the line at what we do, and I can’t help but be concerned about what you’re willing to do to protect your family. You might actually be quite violent, though you seem to be holding back…”
Though the two characters haven’t crossed paths yet, it’s clear that fans may feel anxious about their eventual meeting. In the meantime, Theroux is focused on delivering his best performance while celebrating the victories—albeit violent ones—within the fall out universe.
“The show has a knack for pulling viewers in with surprising moments,” he remarked.
The premiere episode of fall out Season 2 is now streaming on Prime Video, and fans can also catch up on the entire first season.
