Famed NBA coach George Karl explains his ‘support’ for Harris/Walz

Former NBA coach George Karl will host a “Hoops for Harris” Zoom call this Wednesday.

Many big names in the basketball world, including Mark Cuban, Eddie Johnson, and Rex Chapman, are scheduled to attend. Steve Kerr will not be able to attend, but said, “I support this mission and am happy to be a part of the team.”

Karl has previously spoken out against Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump, but in a post on X on Monday night, he explained his reasons for supporting the Democratic candidate.

“I'm often asked why I support Harris-Waltz – it's because I support the environment, abortion, women's rights, voter protection, and college access for all who want it,” Karl wrote. “Above all, I want to evolve who we are. I'm tired of standing still and protecting the power and wealth.”

Karl then received a number of replies from users threatening to unfollow him for appearing to support former President Trump, but he dropped the idea.
