Families were promised an exhilarating ‘Willy Wonka’ experience. What they got instead was a ‘shambles of an event.’

Parents paid about $44 per ticket to take their kids to Willy Wonka: The Chocolate Factory Experience in Glasgow, Scotland, over the weekend.

They were promised an “enchanted world” where “dreams take flight and there are pleasant surprises around every corner.” Instead, what awaited them was a desolate event space with several shoddy exhibits scattered about and no chocolates in sight.

Disbelief and disappointment quickly turned to anger as Police Scotland rushed in and organizers granted more than 800 refunds.
