Family Remembers Slain Army Lt. Tyler Feehan

The family of Army Lt. Tyler Feehan, who was tragically killed, spoke about him with deep love and pride in a recent interview. He was a 25-year-old soldier from Georgia, one of three U.S. service members lost in an Iranian drone strike at Jordan’s Muwaffaq Salti Air Base on July 18.

“We’re incredibly proud of him, and it’s heartwarming to see that the country shares this pride with us,” his mother, Shari Feehan, expressed.

In a touching eulogy, both Shari and Tyler’s fiancée, Claire Fletcher, shared memories of him, including their happiness about his deployment to the Middle East.

“He was thrilled to go,” Fletcher reflected, adding, “He wanted to do the job he had trained for and was eager to make a difference.” Even though it was tough for her as he left for deployment, she looked forward to him doing what he loved.

“When I heard he was leaving, I felt sad, of course, but I was proud of him. I thought, ‘I just want you to go out there, get the experience, and come home safe,’” she recalled.

Tyler Feehan was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. His family mentioned that military service has always been central to their lives, with his father serving in the Army for 26 years.

Tyler was laid to rest in Georgia, next to his grandfather, who was a Vietnam War veteran. Shari described the Georgia National Cemetery as a serene resting place for her son, noting how meaningful it was for them to rest side by side.

Reflecting on their experience, Shari spoke about their journey back to Georgia on Air Force One after receiving an invitation from President Trump. “Meeting him felt important. He was honest with us, and we learned more about what a wonderful person Tyler was,” she shared.

Posthumously, Tyler Feehan will be awarded several honors, including the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
